The first sections of Oriental Cream marble are now being installed, with the rainscreen system progressively wrapping the building level by level.
Working alongside Oculus Building Science and Facades and Terraform Synergy, the façade has been designed as a full performance-led envelope. Thermally broken joinery, ventilated cavities and layered waterproofing systems all sit behind the stone, forming an extremely high level of construction detailing.
For a coastal building like Elysian, durability has been a major driver from day one. Concrete structure, marine-grade detailing, low-e glazing and the 4500 open-jointed pieces which comprise the marble rainscreen have all been designed to ensure the building performs efficeiently for decades to come.
As scaffolding progressively comes down over the coming months, the materiality and form of the building will properly reveal itself.
With the structure now complete, this is the stage where Elysian becomes architecture.
