Caleb Matheson-Dunning of BGT Structures explains how Elysian’s use of a top-down construction methodology is helping accelerate the build.
“The Level 1 slab was poured before the ground or basement levels,” Caleb notes. “That means Levels 2 through 5 can now rise at the same time as excavation continues below.” It’s a method that’s rare in residential construction and reflects Elysian’s design ambition, and the team’s precision execution.
With the level 2 slab completed, Kalmar’s concrete team are already preparing to pour level 3, and with that, the views really begin to open up.
“Once you’re standing on level 3,” says Kalmar Concrete’s Lance Blomfield, “you really start to get a sense of just how special these apartments will be. That view is going to be something else.”
As of this update, Elysian is moving efficiently into its superstructure stage. Over the coming weeks, expect a new rhythm: diggers carving out the basement as levels two, three, four, and five continue to rise.
